APPLE UPDATE MARKET REPORT APR.2018

With spring season comes to end, the production of dehydration is estimated to last till the end of April. After spring festival the demand of fresh apple for domestic market keeps inactive which results into pressure to storage of fresh apples. Since this March., the local government has issued production subsidy to encourage the apple juice production which could help to alleviate sales pressure of fresh apple and protect farmers' benefit to some extent. With restarting juice production, the problem of lack of fresh apple for dehydration with suitable prices is also improved in the same time.

Meanwhile, the market still holds the opinion that fresh apple 2018 crop might begin harvest with similar or lower price level compared to same period last year. Due to the fact of plantation of fresh apple has been expanding in the past several years, the negative impact of supply above demand couldn’t be erased in the near future although farmers continuously cut down the apple trees since two years ago.

However, there’s a fact that main area of apple plantation has been attacked by a cold wave in the beginning of April, which is the blossom period of apple tree. It is estimated that this cold wave might impact the yield of 2018 crop which we couldn't evaluate at this stage but will keep on observing and updating in time.
